Motorola Cliq Box Revealed – Leaked!

mQlB
We got pictures of the T-Mobile – Motorola Cliq box art (and really, it’s as art-sy as it gets) but the Motorola Cliq box confirms what we’ve previously thought/known: Motorola Cliq w/MOTOBLUR

We’re pretty sure you all know what’s under the hood with this phone but here is some extra information.

Box comes with headphones/mic to plug into the headphone jack. no case. the box has a strange way of opening it.. some things about motoblur i havent read about that we learned is that motoblur includes a “tracking” feature similar to the iphone so if you lose your phone you can track it online by gps.. either by current location or last known gps location. you can remote wipe the device.. if you remote wipe the device it “stores” the information on the phone but basically bricks it.. if you log back into your original device.. it brings your info back.. or into another one.. now the way it was explained is that your pictures/contacts are stored.. similar to the way danger did with the sidekick.. not sure if thats 100% though. no google apps. uses Telenav as a ‘pay per month’ turn by turn navigation. internet feature is required. it will use same feature as G1 and will have visual voicemail. honestly the device is incredible.. they are marketing it internal as a way to get Motorola back in the good graces of the customer. no release date was given.. but there will be a preorder.. which i think was shown on a brochure someplace?”

This says it all……"no google apps". And the fact that this monumental statement was left until almost 2/3's of the commentary ? Hmmmmm……..

What you should read into this is : "no google apps" = FAIL.

Or not. If you consider the trouble that Cyanogen is dealing with right now in regard to modding an “open-source” project, which turns out to be only because of the “Google Experience” — i.e. Google Apps. I’m glad to see that a big player is sticking with the open-source and not dealing with licensing from the G. Remember, Google didn’t start this project, they acquired it. For research? No; for name exposure, market domination/expansion, and for more ad revenue.

      • Patrick says:

They're not sticking it to any man. They are using Telenav, which is a pay per month. If anything, its more proprietary than Google Maps.
Google didnt start Android in the same way they didn't start Google Docs. Jotspot existed beforehand, but it was nothing like what it became.

No Google apps? So that means there is no Gmail, Google Maps, Android Market or any of the other Google apps that aren't offered for free? Motorola can add Google talk because it's a free app for everybody. If the others aren't on there though, this phone won't be worth getting.
