Moto and Verizon go after iPhone with new ‘Droid Does’ ad campaign

And so it has begun. A new ad for the upcoming Motorola Droid smartphone has started to appear on TV, and all over the web. In a not-so-subtle declaration of joining the battle for smartphone supremacy, Verizon’s new ad campaign takes direct shots at the iPhone for all of the things that it cannot do. The concept is simple, and the ad delivers the message in a really effective way – There’s a new kid on nation’s largest block, and it’s wrapped up in a shiny robotic package from Motorola.
Images and more after the break.
Things are about to get very interesting, and a rumored announcement on October 30th (release in early November) could be just what the non-iPhone crowd has been looking for. In its shots at the Apple device, the ad shows just a few of the things that iPhone doesn’t have or do, that the Droid is about to have and do, very well:
iDon’t have a real keyboard.
iDon’t run simultaneous apps.
iDon’t take 5-megapixel pictures.
iDon’t customize.
iDon’t run widgets.
iDon’t allow open development.
iDon’t take pictures in the dark.
iDon’t have interchangeable batteries.
Everything iDon’t..

Waaaoooo, looks great this android… MOTODROID does
This commercial is sick .. lmao .. i can imagine the look on steve jobs face when he see's it ….. As for the phone it not really my cup of tea .. too square looking .. needed some more rounded edges
I agree, definitely a great ad. I think the edges are rounded pretty nicely, I'm really digging the design and it can't get into my pocket soon enough! BGR praised the keyboard which is big, I can't wait to play w/ it myself.
i like this phone! rounding it may make it more appealing, but hey if not i would still be interested!
You're not alone, lots of people aren't happy w/ it being a bit… square. That being said, not everyone wants an iPhone clone ya know? I think it will look better in person than it does in the pictures, and its MUCH thinner than you think it is, even w/ keyboard!
