New HTC “Droid” Eris Shots
New shots taken from AndroidGuys of the HTC Eris, and boy does this handset look great in the flesh, flaunting itself as the Verizon version of the HTC Hero with pretty much the same specifications. Due to be realeased on November the 6th along side the Motorola Droid, i will repeat my earlier theory on this handset doing well in the market to average user’s, maybe not so with the advanced user who are spec driven but will sell well all the same. Its still unclear whether or not this handset will ship with Android 2.0 (Eclair) as the Moto Droid will or it will come with Android 1.5 (Cupcake) however sit tight as Nov 6th is a date Verizon and Motorola are looking forward to. Take a look at the new shots over the page which show the handset clearly running the Sense UI in which recently HTC have announced are skipping 1.6 and going straight to 2.0 which kind of makes it fussy on what this handset will actualy be running.

Isnt this an HTC phone? The "moto" would indicate otherwise. Just might want to fix the title its just a little misleading b/c it is not a "moto" phone.
Otherwise with a fairly high price point on the Actual Moto-Droid I would expect this phone to do extremely well at the $99 Price point especially the way Verizon likes to move phones during this quarter/Season/time of the year.
Also, this phone will ship with 1.5. you can count on it! Why? because the "HERO" has yet to see and wont see the 1.6 update, as its going to skip to the 2.0. Who know when 2.0 will be released!!! Thats the real question here.
