Toshl Application Gets Review
Toshl

What is Toshl? Toshl is an easy-to-use simple interface Expense tracking application. With Toshl you can easily track your daily and monthly expenses on the timeline. Every expense can be tagged so you can later decipher exactly what you have been spending your money on. Once you have created a tag you can simply click that tag next time that expense is repeated. Are the Tags not enough information for you? In that case you can include any additional information in the “add description” field. You don’t live in the U.S? That’s no problem for this expense app, because you can change the currency settings with a quick click of the menu. All expense inputs can easily be edited, just tap the expense and hit edit.
A quick look at a few features:
- Timeline View
- Tags view
- One click tags (after the 1st use of a tag)
- Currency settings
- Timestamp Format
- Additional Details

Toshl is extremely simplistic and easy to use. After clicking the Giant “Add Expense” button, at the bottom of the Timeline or Tag view. The application changes to a screen where you have to enter the basic information that is needed for tracking the expense. The screen asks for you to enter the expense price in the “Enter Price” field. Then asks for you to choose a tag (or multiple tags) if a tag does not exists then you may enter a new tag in the “choose tag” field. The next two fields are completely optional, the application is always set for the current date (but if you are tracking an expense for a previous day than you must change the date) and the add description field if you need to know more information about the expense. Once finished you tap the “add” button and just like that your new expense is has been recorded.
App Video Demo:
This application does a couple of little things just right. If you’re anything like I am and spend money in little bits at a time in different places this application is for you. It a perfect expense tracking application because it’s clean and easy to use. Even when you start to build up a list of expenses the screen doesn’t get too busy for the eyes. I really like the ability to view the expenses from the “tag” tab it gives an alternate look at just what I am spending my money on but of course the “timeline” tab is great because I know when I spent my money with a quick glance. Every expense can be viewed independently, in this view it gives you the ability to edit or delete the expense. I particularly like the edit feature because if I change my mind on a tag, or the expense amount is wrong, I can then edit those things.
There are a few things I would like to see with this app. All the tags are one color; I would like to see at least a few colors available for Tags. I would also like to see collapsible days in the timeline, in which it just shows the total of what was spent that day. Both of these things would make for an easier quick glance of expenses. For me Toshl is an app worth keeping with the way I lose receipts and forget what I bought on any given day.

Sorry for OT but what clock widget is that?
Clock widget is stock for Android 2.0. If your root and depending on what ROM your are running you can grab it at the XDA forums.
Love this app!
Loving this app, have a few questions. Where is the data stored? Can/will it move with me across multiple Android phones? That's big if I'm going to use the app as much as I want to!
The data is currently stored locally and right now cannot be transferred to other phones. That being said, we're already working on plans which will allow you to move the data to other phones, have it backed up, exported and generally under your complete control but without it being difficult to do. That's all I can say right now, we plan to roll out these features by the end of the year.
That's GREAT to hear Matic. I'll be anxiously awaiting this functionality. Thanks for the quick response.
