Verizon sells 250,000 DROIDS in the first week

While many were worried about DROID adoption due to the lack of long lines on launch day, new statistics by industry analytics firm Flurry are making waves today as the company reported that a quarter-million DROIDS found their way into the hands of consumers in the first week of availability.

Now this number might not jump out at you as being high when compared to that other phone, but in reality it is a very promising sign that confirms what we’ve been saying all along – Motorola and Verizon have a very big seller on their hands.

Of course, good first-week sales don’t always translate into “success” so we’ll have to see how the DROID performs long-term, but considering that Moto’s new beast bested the myTouch 3G (60,000 sold in the first week) by just over 4-fold, it sure seems like a good sign to us.

To all of the new DROID owners just joining us – Welcome to the Android community, we’re glad to have you on board!

That is great, While I'm not a DROID owner, I'm new to the Android community as a proud Hero owner. It sucks that Sprint didn't put any kind of marketing muscle behind the phone. Oh well.

But I simply love the fact that being in such a place, means the success of Droid, means good things for all of android in general
