Gigabyte Android Handset Images Were FAKE!!

So it would appear that the handset picture’s that popped up several weeks ago have been nothing but fake’s, you know the Gigabyte GSmart handset that looked very much like a knock-off MyTouch3G. Yes, well these have turned out to be faker than fake. Matt from TracyAndMatt.co.uk seems to be quite friendly with one of their PR girls based in Taiwan and it has been confirmed that these were mock-up images. Much to Matt’s dissapointment as he previously predicted on a podcast that Gigabyte would release an Android powered unit sometime this year. His PR connect did confirm they are working on an Android device but it’s not expected till later in 2010 and will look nothing like the image’s below. Good news then as the handset image leaks left no impression and as I covered before, basically just looked like a dated MyTouch3G. Let’s hope they can come up with something innovative. That should keep the smile on big Matt’s face as his prediction is still quite accurate if we do see a Gigabyte Android this year.
