Sony Ericsson State the Xperia X10 will Get Android OS 2.2

The Sony Ericsson Asia launch looks as if it held more than just launch details, it also held some news relating to the Xperia X10 in the form of an Android update. Apparently somewhere down the line the Xperia X10 will get Android 2.2 which in theory could just be an update to the current OS (Eclair) or could quite possibly be the next in line from Google named Froyo. When released here in the UK and also in the U.S, it will come loaded with the out-dated Android OS 1.6 (Donut).

Sony Ericsson did state that it would get 2.1 eventually but off course 2010 is a long year so the 2.2 update they are talking about could very well mean Decemeber 2010 and remember guys that is 9 months away.

CNet Asia reported this find and they say this will be the case with the Xperia X10 Mini and the Mini Pro handsets. Although this is the first time we have heard it from a handset manufacturer, let’s see who else jumps on the bandwagon and makes announcments on Android OS 2.2
